A Post-Program Activity was held in collaboration with Naiara Martins (SWY26), Yurina (SWY Hybrid), and her Japanese friend Nanami, during a Japanese Language and Culture class at Colégio do Sol.
This extracurricular project was specially created to promote multicultural learning among students and to foster interest in Japanese language and culture. For a month, the group had been preparing to host the visitors, and their efforts reflected a thoughtful blend of Brazilian and Japanese cultural elements. The students crafted their own meishi (business cards) and presented on topics such as Brazilian culture, society, and the national education system.
These student-led presentations demonstrated great enthusiasm and a deep interest in cross-cultural exchange. Yurina and Nanami introduced key aspects of Japan’s history, geography, and cultural traditions in an engaging and accessible way. Their session featured interactive activities, including quizzes, which sparked curiosity and encouraged active participation from the students.
The dynamic exchange captured the essence of the SWY program—promoting multilingual dialogue, cultural empathy, and genuine mutual understanding.
