A Journey of Friendship, Culture, and Adventure
The Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route steeped in history since the Middle Ages, unites diverse cultures under a shared purpose. Participants engaged with Galicia’s cultural heritage, including a delightful visit to the Noelia Bebelia estate and winery, where they explored the significance of Albariño wine and experienced the warm hospitality of the local community.
Last year, from August 24th to 31st, 2025, 25 spirited participants from nine countries—Bahrain, Egypt, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Spain—embarked on the memorable Camino de Santiago, walking the final 100 km of the Portuguese Way. This incredible journey was not just about the miles; it was a rich blend of cultural visits, local interactions, and personal growth, culminating in a celebratory arrival at Santiago de Compostela.
The journey culminated at the iconic Plaza del Obradoiro, where participants received the Compostela, the official certificate of completion, welcomed by dignitaries from the Xunta de Galicia. This moment underscored the shared efforts and the lasting friendships forged during the Camino experience.
The “Camino SWY” program not only introduces participants to Galician culture but also promotes intercultural dialogue, solidarity, and respect among diverse groups.
As we reflect on last year’s success, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming adventure: The 2nd Camino SWY from August 29th to September 5th, 2026! This year, we will traverse a scenic section of the French Camino: starting from Sarria and passing through Portomarín, Palas de Rei, Arzúa, O Pedrouzo, and arriving finally at Santiago de Compostela, covering a total of 112 km.
Imagine seven unforgettable days filled with stunning landscapes, delectable regional cuisine, and the joy of walking alongside friends from around the globe. Different cultures, diverse beliefs, and various alumni batches will come together to create one unparalleled adventure.
Every sunrise will introduce a new stage, and every step will tell a unique story. This journey celebrates the essence of friendship, diversity, and personal achievement.
