Online Testimony by Ms. Yoshiko Kajimoto, survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima

In remembrance of the 80th year from the atomic bombing in Hiroshima, a group of SWYers organized an online testimony by Ms. Kajimoto to share her experiences and encourage a culture of peace among younger generations.

Ms.Kajimoto’s testimony was moving and humbling. Her plea called on all SWYers to accept the challenge and lift the baton to become “Peace Runners.” This message served as an eye-opening reminder to uphold one of the original values of the Ship for World Youth Program, which is promote World Peace.

A group of five SWYers from different batches and countries united their efforts to bring this meaningful experience to the SWY Family and the wider international community.

The event was held twice, on September 3rd and October 3rd, 2025, with an estimated 180 participants from 18 different countries.

Message from Ms. Kajimoto

One person might not be able to do much, but should many peace-loving people join, and with the help of the souls of the deceased, I believe nuclear weapons could be abolished. Although I cannot do much, every day I would like to do what I can, and tell people of my own experience. In order to realize a peaceful world free of nuclear weapons, I would like to ask you to be PEACE RUNNERS and relay your batons. Thank you!
